LeachLAN 1 Over

After a weekend of some insanely good times, insanely lacking sleep and insane riffs on Rock Band, LeachLAN 1 came to an end yesterday. Judging by talking to some of the participants, a good time was had, however we are aware that there were some problems, especially on the Friday. We’d love to hear your feedback on the event so we can improve for our future LAN events, so please do visit feedback thread.

This weekend couldn’t have happened without you, the participants, who made this event your own. Nor could it it have happened without our sponsors, Alienware, AMD, Clanshirts, Crucial, Razer and Thermaltake.

We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did in putting it on and hope to see you again at a LeachLAN 2!

LeachLAN1 - BBQ plans confirmed

We have finalised our plans for the BBQ on Saturday evening. Previously this would have been a “Bring your own meat” affair however we are now able to cook food with the right level of food safety, so a selection of FREE tasty cooked meat (vegetarian options available if requested beforehand) will be on offer.

First LAN Launched & Umbrella Rebranding

From this day, BrisLAN will no longer be the name that we operate under; we are changing this name to such that we can encompass an entire region with our social LAN events, rather than just the Bristol area. Therefore, we will henceforth be officially known as Southwest LANs. We feel this will better represent our plans for future expansion in the LAN event industry.

It is under this name that we present to you our first event: LeachLAN 1. We must apologise to those of you who were expecting us to announce our first BrisLAN event, however due to some issues with our chosen venues we’ve had to put this away for some later development such that we can eliminate these issues but do expect us to announce our first BrisLAN event once we get everything in order.

LeachLAN 1 is set to be a great BYOC gaming event, remaining small enough to keep the intimate gaming environment which makes you feel more connected to the day to day happenings at a LAN party than at larger events you may have been to. Obviously, part of a great feeling at a LAN party is the venue, and we think we’ve found a great place. LeachLAN 1 is to be held at the Westwoods Centre in the town of Northleach, Gloucestershire. Conveniently located on 2 trunk roads (the A40 and A429) which connect the M5 and M4, less than 30 minutes drive from Gloucester, Oxford, Cheltenham and Swindon. For those who are unable to get transport by car, there are rail services in the nearby towns of Moreton-In-Marsh and Kemble, both of which have direct bus services to Northleach.

Being a social LAN, LeachLAN 1 is a great place to meet up with friends, chill out over a weekend with some fun, non-competitive gaming. Open up some of your old favourites, such as Unreal Tournament 99 and Warcraft 3 but don’t think that more recent games will be left untouched - a good variety of games makes for a great time. Being on a LAN also allows for a lot of larger games, there’s no better experience than a big games like Grand Theft Auto 2 or Savage which will be organized throughout the weekend.

LeachLAN 1 will be taking place between 4PM 18th July and 6PM 20th July. Tickets will be £40 for the entire weekend, and will be on sale shortly. Additional services such as WiFi, Server Co-Location and Monitor Rental will be available and pricing can be found on the LeachLAN 1 event page.

We look forward to seeing you at the LAN.

Thanks,
The Southwest LAN event team.
