LeachLAN 4 – Seating Process Begins

With mere weeks to go until LeachLAN 4, we’d like to let you guys know how the seating process will work for this event!

The first revision of the seating plan for LeachLAN 4 will be posted on Thursday 11th March, followed by a second revision on Thursday 18th of March. The final revision will be posted on the Evening of Wednesday 24th March!

If you have any immediate requests before the first revision is posted, you can e-mail us on; seating@swlans.co.uk and we will see what we can do!

LeachLAN 4 – Final Event Plan Posted!

We’re now mere weeks from LeachLAN 4, and we think that the time is right for us to finalise what is going to be happening at the event! As a result we have now posted the “final” event plan for all of our organised big games and social activities.

Also don’t forget that the the FREE BBQ is on Friday night and we shall be serving a selection of Burgers and Hot Dogs. As well as the bar opening hours being 6-11PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

SteelSeries confirm LeachLAN 4 Sponsorship!

SteelSeries 6Gv2
Designed with 18-karat gold-plated mechanical switches, the keyboard offers quicker reaction times and advanced key combinations for more Actions Per Minute and a lifetime more than 10 times that of conventional keyboards.

Like the SteelSeries 7G, the new keyboard utilizes a powerful buffer-system created specifically for gaming, supporting as many simultaneous key presses as there are keys on the keyboard. The “anti-ghosting” feature allows users in first person shooter games to move, crouch, aim, fire and even check the scoreboard, simultaneously. The SteelSeries G product line is the only series of keyboards on the market that allows this type of functionality all at once.

The new keyboard will incorporate SteelSeries’ Media Controls allowing quick access to volume, mute and other audio controls. Features not present in the keyboard, compared to the SteelSeries 7G, are the audio ports for headphone-in and microphone-out, the two USB ports as well as the removable plastic handrest.

The mechanical tactile system is ergonomically designed to ensure ease-of-use, while the no-click switches and iron-infused plastic makes SteelSeries G Series of keyboards both comfortable and durable. The SteelSeries 6Gv2 also has a switch lifetime of 50 million operations, which is more than 10 times the lifespan of a typical “membrane” keyboard known for a maximum of only 1-5 million total keystrokes in a lifetime.

The SteelSeries 6Gv2 keyboard retails for EUR 79.99 and will be available in Q2 2010.

Designed and built for competitive gamers, the SteelSeries 7H presents a superior soundscape in an exclusive design that travels well and offers two ear-cup choices, hear-through cloth and noise dampening leather.

The SteelSeries 7H headset features 50mm drivers in the ear-cups which fully cover the ear and delivers a clean soundscape of high, low and mid tones from background, mood setting sounds in MMO games to 3D positional alerts in FPS games. The closed-type headset features superior passive noise reduction, specifically developed in cooperation with competitive gamers for use at loud tournaments and LAN-events. The SteelSeries 7H additionally comes with two interchangeable ear-cushions that offer the option of leather cushions with noise dampening foam or hear-through cloth covered foam.

The new SteelSeries 7H all black stealth design features subdued chrome elements around each ear-cup and at the base of either side of the headband. …Dramatic intro aside, what are we going on about? Well, some time ago we started game nights, and after a bit of a break (again). They’re back!

LeachLAN 4 – Pub Quiz!

On the Saturday evening of LeachLAN4, we will be having a pub quiz! This will give you the opportunity to take a break from gaming and chill out with the guys and gals you have been fragging all weekend. Have a good laugh with your mates whilst trying to answer some (if not all) of our cunningly written questions and maybe even have a pint or two?

The pub quiz will be separated into 7 different rounds, each having 10 questions. There will also be a bonus round of 20 “dingbats”. For those of you who wish to get swotting then details of the rounds are as follows:

Round 1: General Knowledge

Round 2: Game History

Round 3: Winter Olympics – This starts tonight, so you might want to keep an eye on your TV!

Round 4: Game Music

Round 5: This is NOT Sparta, you are lost – We’ll leave this one up to you…

Round 7: Attack, Defend, Retreat – All questions have a “military” connection.

BONUS ROUND: Dingbats

There will be a limit of 5 people per team in the Pub Quiz. You may even get an extra point for the most creative team name! There is no charge either for entering the quiz – so all more the reason for taking part!

What is the prize for the quiz I hear you ask? The winning team will get a free round of drinks courtesy of Shazz! Yes, really!

By popular demand, you can now order your merchandise for LeachLAN 4!

T-Shirts cost £15, Hoodies cost £20 and Mugs cost £5. T-Shirts and Hoodies are available in the following size ranges: S, M, L, XL, XXL.

LeachLAN 4 – Food & Drink Information

It’s LeachLAN 4 food information time!

However, before we get to what food is on offer over the weekend. The bar times need confirmation! The bar will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings between 6PM-11PM. As always the bar will be selling a selection of reasonably priced Ales, Beers, Ciders, Spirits & Wine. Full price information can be found here.

And now, to the food! On Friday evening our FREE BBQ will be taking place at approximately 7PM and will be serving a selection of Burgers and Hot Dogs for you all! We however need to know of peoples specific dietary requirements, such as if you are a Vegetarian to be able to cater for you. If you are, please let us know via e-mail to info@swlans.co.uk so we have enough food for you!

On Saturday night we will once again be organising a large order to a local takeaway at approximately 7PM. Unfortunately The Pizza Planet will no longer deliver to Northleach, however we will be offering the Chinese Takeaway option again! Further information regarding this order will be available on the event Intranet.

Finally, we will once again be selling a selection of snacks and drinks throughout the weekend at the event front desk. We have now put a stock list and prices online. Further details can be found here.

Provisional Assassination Rules Posted!

Calling all Assassins, we’ve got a job for you. It will be high risk, but the reward is potentially huge…

After much deliberation, we’ve finally come up with what we believe is a good set of guidelines for the game of Assassination that will take place during LeachLAN 4! All of the staff have had a good look over them, and we all think that you guys are in for great amounts of fun throughout the weekend. I mean, where else can you backstab someone with a FEATHER!?.
